What is E29 Researcher Work Visa?
The E29 Researcher Work Visa is a limited stay permit issued to foreign nationals who will carry out research project activities in Indonesia. It is valid for one year from the date of arrival, can be extended online, and may later be converted into another type of stay permit in line with applicable regulations.
Allowed Activities
Holders may carry out research project activities in Indonesia. They may also act as a representative of their overseas head office for branch visits and business development purposes, and may bring accompanying family members. General tourism and visits to friends or family are also permitted for as long as the visa's re-entry clearance remains valid.
Sponsor Requirements
All Visas except B1 Visa or VOA are recommended to use Sponsorship as your guarantor in Indonesia. You are free to choose whether to use a guarantor or not. By checking the Sponsor option in your order, you will be legally sponsored by us and you will receive a Sponsor ID / IDiv.
Period of Stay

Sponsorship must come from an institution connected to scientific research, and clearance from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is required before submission.
Specific Requirements
Proof of sponsorship (surat penjaminan) from a sponsoring institution that has a direct connection to scientific research, and clearance from the National Research and Innovation Agency (Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional / BRIN).
Other Provisions
The visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance; if unused within that period, a new visa application is required. Visa validity is separate from the length of stay it authorizes, so please check the permit for the exact stay period granted. Holders may not remain in Indonesia beyond the granted period of stay or engage in activities outside those authorized by the permit. A re-entry permit is issued automatically once the holder clears immigration at the port of entry.

Processing takes five working days after payment is completed. The procedure includes verification of the submitted requirements, verification of the fee payment, creation/verification of the applicant's profile, approval by the immigration authority, and issuance of the visa.
