What is E31A Spouse of Indonesian Citizen KITAS?

The E31A is a family reunification visa issued to the foreign spouse of an Indonesian citizen (WNI). It permits the holder to enter and remain in Indonesia for an initial period selected at application, based on a legally recognized marriage to an Indonesian national.

Allowed Activities

Holders may reside in Indonesia together with their Indonesian spouse and engage in tourism-related activities and visits to friends or family. This permit does not itself authorize paid employment; any work activity must be covered by a separate permit issued in accordance with manpower and immigration regulations.

Sponsor Requirements

Period of Stay

The applicant selects an initial stay duration of either one (1) or two (2) years, counted from the date of arrival in Indonesia. The permit can be extended online via evisa.imigrasi.go.id and may later be converted into another category of stay permit in line with applicable regulations.

Specific Requirements

Proof of the marriage must be submitted: if the marriage took place abroad, a report/registration of the marriage at an Indonesian Representative (Embassy/Consulate) together with the legalized marriage certificate, translated into Indonesian by a certified/sworn translator unless the original is in English; if the marriage took place in Indonesia, the Indonesian marriage book (buku nikah) or marriage certificate (akta perkawinan).

Other Provisions

The visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance; if unused within that period, a new visa application is required. Visa validity is separate from the length of stay it authorizes, so please check the permit for the exact stay period granted. Holders may not remain in Indonesia beyond the granted period of stay, engage in activities outside those authorized by the permit, or sell goods or services unless required for authorized work.
